There hasn’t been anything official but from statements made by Kendall “Da Spyder” Grove concerning this fight, I am putting myself on the line here and saying that I believe the loser of this fight will be down in the WEC for their next fight. In a recent video talking about the upcoming fight at the Ultimate Fighter 7 Finale show this Saturday on Spike TV, Grove said “This is basically a loser leaves town match”. I haven’t seen any official words on it or even really any speculation, but I am going out on a limb and saying it now.

I believe the loser of this fight will be the next name to hit the WEC from the UFC. With recent TUF runner up Tommy Spear coming to the WEC and also Jens Pulver, both Kendall Grove and Evan Tanner would both be great names to have in the WEC and would definitely add to the already stacked roster. The talent pool just keeps getting bigger in the WEC and I love it.

With the recent announcement of Lorenzo Fertitta to work full-time to expand MMA promotion this could be also great news for the WEC. The report is mainly about running the UFC, but in my opinion, the WEC is on its way up to be the second biggest MMA promotion world wide and I think that with Lorenzo giving full time support to the MMA side of business, the WEC could benefit from this as well with bigger and better sponsors, more events across the world and bigger name fighters coming from the UFC. No matter what happens, I am going to have fun watching it all unfold.

So, after the TUF Finale this weekend, if a couple months go by and nothing is said about Grove or Tanner moving to the WEC, you can come here and personally make fun of me

Needless to say, the road to recovery (and championship stardom) isn’t as easy as some people might hope.

No date or location has been confirmed yet for this fight, but regardless of where it happens, it is definitely going to be filled with fireworks, and I doubt it makes it all three rounds. Both fighters are accustomed to finishing fights, so that will definitely make it very interesting. Rob McCullough is highly skilled Muay Thai specialist while Donald Cerrone is a submission machine. Never forget though that Cowboy is also a S-1 Muay Thai United States champion, so the fight definitely has the markings of being a great fight for the fans.

As more information comes in about the fight, I will keep you posted and let you know when a time and location has been set. Don’t forget to subscribe to our feed to get up to date news.

It’s no secret that “The All American” Brian Stann is a monster when it comes to knocking people out inside of the octagon. With impressive knockouts in all of his 6 wins inside the octagon, theres no reason to wonder why Brian Stann is the WEC light heavyweight champion. I wanted to commemorate two of Brian Stann’s knockouts and show you them here in case you’ve missed one of his fights, or were watching one of the fights and blinked!

Brian Stann is not only a great Mixed Martial Arts champion for the World Extreme Cagefighting organization, but a great Marine dedicated to serving and protecting this country. We need more people like him in this world, and I personally thank him and all of our other troops serving overseas for your dedication and strength.

WEC Champions show class in and out of the octagon. Urijah Faber, who is fresh off a win against Jens Pulver at the previous WEC PPV will join fellow WEC Champion Carlos Condit and UFC Veteran Michael Bisping and UFC Champion BJ Penn in Afghanistan visiting our United States Military and other coalition troops.

No specific time table has been set for the visit but with Carlos Condit set to defend his WEC 170-pound title on August 3rd, I would assume that they’ll be going soon; or right after. My guess though is for sooner rather then later.

This isn’t the first time that Zuffa has sent fighters from the UFC and the WEC overseas to show support to our troops and it definitely won’t be the last. Below is a snippet from UFC President Dana White:

“We are honored to send UFC and WEC fighters to visit the men and women of the United States Military. We are pleased to be giving back to such a great cause; many of our fighters have served in the military and understand what a great contribution our troops are making overseas.”

In addition to sending fighters overseas to show their support, WEC Light Heavyweight Champion Brian Stann, Luigi Fioravanti, Randy Couture and Brandon Vera, among others, have all served in the armed forces or are currently active in our United States Armed Forces.

Our hats off to the WEC and Zuffa for showing support for the men and women who defend this country and make it possible for us to watch fights without worrying about having to fight for our lives in our own country.

After devastating defeats, these two WEC fighters are looking to get back on the right path by destroying each other. Cub Swanson (12-2) and Hiroyuki Takaya (9-5-1) are going to battle at WEC 35 in the 140-pound devision at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on August 3rd according to Sherdog.

At WEC 31, Cub Swanson suffered a defeat at the hands of “Lil Evil” Jens Pulver in his return to featherweight which set Swanson back from his title contention. With the defeat being at only 35 seconds of the first round (the second loss of Swanson’s career), he’s definitely on a war path to redemption.

Takaya is a tough fighter with impressive punching power and will look to end the fight early. Swanson has a tough road ahead of him and I hope that he isn’t just looking past Takaya and focusing on a title shot. It would be a huge mistake.

At WEC 32 in Feb. Takaya was knocked out in 91 seconds of the first round by Leonard Garcia. The Bad Boy made quick work of what supposed to be a great pick up for the WEC and made Hiroyuki look like he didn’t belong in the WEC at all. I promise you this has not sat well with “Streetfight Bancho”.

This fight is expected to be on the televised portion of the WEC 35 card, which is headlined by a ridiculous amount of title fights that include champions Brian Stann, Carlos Condit and Jamie Varner. It will air LIVE on the Versus network at 9 p.m.ET. This is definitely one you do NOT want to miss.
